Thursday Art Date: December Holidays: πŸŽ… Santa's WorkshopπŸŽ…

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date! 😊😊 Today our theme is December Holidays: Santa's Workshop. I was watching some old Jack Benny television shows on YouTube the other day and Carol Burnett was one of the guest stars. This reminded me of her show, which was so funny...and the cartoon at the end, of her as a "scrub woman"! I guess I figured, now that Christmas is over, Santa's workshop needed a good cleaning and who better to do some hard labour than Bugs Bunny!

I also drew a charcoal drawing of Tim Allen as Santa Claus from the move The Santa Clause. I think he's so funny! I love that movie.

If you'd like to watch the real-time video I made for this tutorial, feel free to click on the image, or on this link!

I also have a few new videos up on my Spiritual Rain channel!

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer Card Reading For 2022

I did something different for the holidays, I made Mex-Mas dinner!

Burritos filled with Refried Beans, Nacho Cheese Dip, tomatoes, lettuce and Cheddar cheese. The tortillas are tomato and spinach flavoured!

I made Tortilla Chips in the shape of snowmen! Cookie cutters come in handy for this!

To the left is my Mexican Dip and to the right the nacho cheese dip. You can barely see the refried beans in the photo above the nacho cheese dip.

Look at that melt!!

We were too full for a big dessert, but I opened up the After Eight sticks and made some Brandy Alexander's. I have some nice food planned for this weekend too!

I wanted to share this gorgeous photo I took from my front door. The spotlight over the door was on and it was snowing...doesn't it look like a painting?

  1. That photo does look like a painting. One of yours...

  2. Strange, I have not seen the movie or even herd about it. But checking out a video it seem like a lot of fun. I think your portrait is great :)

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

  3. ...Rain, your Mex-Mas dinner look GREAT! Have a Healthy and Happy New Year.

  4. I do like your charcoal of Tim Allen and yes, the photograph does look like a painting.

Pleased you enjoyed your 'Texmas Dinner' I don't wonder you had no room for dessert it looks a tasty spread.

    Happy New Year Wishes

    All the best Jan

  5. That photo does indeed look like a painting. Your timing is impeccable.

There is not ever a bad time - ever - for Mexican food.

    Happy New Year!

  6. Nice workshop piece, wonderful charcoal Santa. I saw that meat at the end and did a double take, but it was Nancy's site haha. The Mexican food looks so yummy!

  7. i guess i will have to just look at that photo and wish it was the view from my front door! i would happily eat that food right now.

  8. Your front door pic DOES look like a painting! I love the Mex-mas idea. It looks delicious. I'm thinking you had a wonderful holiday and I send you many wishes for a lovely new year, too!

  9. I IMMEDIATELY recognized Bugs as Carol Burnett's scrub woman character! You Mex-Mas meal looks delicious! We had tacos for our Christmas Eve dinner because we wanted something that would be completely different than the big traditional Christmas turkey feast we had the next day.

And I love Brandy Alexanders! The last time I had one was a few years ago in the lounge of the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. Cost me $18, but I guess I was paying for "the ambiance," LOL! And what a clever idea to use those After Eight mint sticks as your stir sticks -- love it! All I did with my package of those mint sticks was eat the whole damn thing by myself.

  10. Hello,
Love the Bugs drawing, I do remember Carol Burnett's show and the Scrub woman character. The first Santa Claus movie was one of my favorites. Your Mex-Mas meal looks yummy. I wish you all the best in 2022, a very happy and healthy New Year!

  11. All the very best for the New Year, Rain, may it bring you health, happiness and success. We all need a break from COVID so may it bring that too!

  12. Your blog posts are always wonderful, Rain! I'm visually pleased...and hungry! LOL I am loving your videos, of course. I watched your Tim Allen drawing last night and it was amazing! You are so wonderfully talented. xo

  13. Hi Rain, lovely mex food you had over Christmas :) I am going to go and see your spiritual channel now for a bit of calm vibe. I like Nancy's blog too and follow her, she eats things I have never seen and could never grow in the UK so always interesting. Happy New Year :)

  14. I left you a long comment response over on Elephant Child's 12-22-21 post. 😊

  15. Wish you and your Family a healthy and πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€ Happy New Year.

    Hugs, Heidrun

  16. You always say "that's all", but how much more could you possibly share. So much, so much beauty, fun and delicious food and of course, always the fur babies :) I love the picture and yes, it looks like a delicate painting. Poor Bugs gets stuck with the clean up ... oh well, I guess somebody has to do it :) Your Tim Allen Santa Clause is perfect ... it is awesome how you get the hair to look like hair (yes, I watched your tutorial). Your videos are fun and I chuckled how Jack ( who in no way is a snow dog) wants to go back in and Charlie, who has that wonderful winter coat like my Izzi did, just wants to revel in the snow. As for snowman tortilla chips, I laugh because I think the rest of the world buys their chips at the store ... only you would make them from scratch and then cut them out with cookie cutters. That is one thing that makes you so amazing. All of your food looks delicious and tempting and like something I would eat even if I am on a diet :) It is probably a good thing we don't live close to each other ... I can see me putting on the pounds and I still don't get how you avoid it. You must have a magical metabolism like my mother who could down a cake over a weekend and never gain an ounce ( Naturally, I didn't inherit that trait from her :( ) Stay safe and well, Rain ... enjoy your New Years Eve and dive into the New Year with all of the vigor you have already started in the very difficult 2021.

  17. Look at Bugz all cleaned out.. I bet the workshop is already in full swing for Christmas 2022. Tim Allen sure has the best Santa movie face.

  18. Hi Rain. Lovely art and pics. Love your night shot out the door. I will be checking out some of your vid's next time at the library, as our data is so limited here. I want to see the one of the critters, especially! Happy, happy new year to you, Alex and the critters.

  19. Happy New Year, Rain! LOVE the Carol Burnett Bugs and also Tim in charcoal. But oh that Mex-mas food, yum! Do you not mash your refrieds? Whip them suckers! Down here, if it's not bean paste, we don't touch 'em! More lard, please! heeheehee The photo you took does look like a painting - wow! XOX

  20. Amazing artwork and I might have been drooling over the food pictures. What fun you have with your artwork!!!! xo Diana

  24. Hello Rain. You seem to be enjoying the new year by cooking up a number of colourful and tasty looking food items. I'm loving the look of your Mexmas dips and burritos. There does seem to be a surplus though so I'll just have to pop over and help you out to clear the table. Have fun.

  25. Precious friend Rain first of all i want to thank you for being such inspiration for all of us .it was really nice to meet you through blogging and be able to learn so much specially the energy i find shining through your blog uplifts my spirit instantly!

Your Christmas food looks intriguing as well.a heart of an artist finds way to express herself whatever she touches :)
Health, peace and joy to both of you and your fur fa

  26. What a great capture you took of that falling snow, Rain! Your Mex-Mas dinner foods looked so good, especially those cookie cutter nacho chips in the form of snowmen! The burritos, nacho cheese dip and refried beans all looked yummy just in the photos and Brandy Alexanders afterwards too! Who needed any dessert after such treats. Glad you and Alex had a wonderful year-end celebration at home as we did too. Sending our best wishes to you both and the fur babies as well for a good 2022. Glad we're blogger friends too and one day maybe we will meet face-to-face as New England isn't that far away.

  27. Happy New Year, Rain. I hope it is a wonderful year filled with happiness, health and some awesome art. Love your art and the Mexican food looks so delicious.

I did not get yours out cause I was having internet issues and computer issues, yes, BOTH and I could not look at my email for your address. I am so sorry. is hoping you had a great Christmas and a fantastic start to the new year. Here, its been wild and crazy. Jan 1st, wicked weather with tornado warnings and watches, 78 degrees and then the next day, sleet and snow. CRAZY.

  29. Beautiful charcoal Santa Claus.
    The food looks delicious.
I wish you and all your loved ones a happy but above all a healthy 2022.
    Greetings Irma

  31. Lovely cheese nibbles, excellent photos. Have a wonderful new year Rain.

  32. Dearest Rain,
we also had tortillas for Christmas! :-) (Everyone in our family loves Mexican food :-)) But unfortunately we didn't have such beautiful snowman nachos - a great idea. As always, your works of art are wonderful!
All the best, good luck, joy and health in 2022! πŸ€πŸ₯‚πŸ˜˜ Hugs to you and to your critters!

  33. Your Bugs drawings are always so cute. Oh gosh, you are such an amazing artist, and also an amazing cook. I have never been able to put a meal together and set a table as perfect as you do...and I'm old enough to be your grandmother! :) By the way, you are adorable in that cowboy hat. I have a brand new hat and haven't had the nerve to wear it. Happy New Year Rain.

  34. Happy New Year, Rain! Gee, I meant to come over before now but it's been one of those weeks. On power was out most of Monday after we got 3-4 inches of snow overnight so that's thrown me a bit to get back into the groove. It's been so cold in east Tennessee this week. I'm ready for spring but I have a long wait for that, huh? I love your Santa's Workshop. I knew instantly that Bugs was dressed like Carol Burnett and that the Santa Claus rendition is of Tim Allen. :) Great job! Here's hoping 2022 is by far better than the last two.

  35. Wow, the food looks so yummy and tasty. After seeing the food photo I cannot resist my tongue. Very well captured along with the editing work as it seems so vivid. Anyways, which camera did you use to capture it? I’m also working on image post-production platforms for editing kinds of stuff. Anyways very good sharing; please keep posting more. I’ll definitely visit your blog again.image post production
